United Colors Breda
Previous projects…
The past few months, many people have visited De Teruggave due to the many activities we have organised. An overview:

On Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 December 2021 we organized a wonderful Christmas party at De Teruggave.
Guests were received at de Teruggave in a Christmas atmosphere with lights, a Christmas stall, Christmas trees, music and a lot of other fun activities. There were workshops for young and old and a treasure hunt throughout the city!
OPEN MONUMENT DAY
Saturday 11 September 2021 we hosted Open Monument Day at de Teruggave. Open Monument Day is a national celebration in which many buildings in cities and villages are open to the public. Next to de Teruggave, we also hosted activities at Electron and secondary school Tessenderlandt. These three buildings are linked by age, repurposing, art and craftsmanship. The latter is reflected in the work of artist Gerrit de Morée. He was the source of inspiration to connect education with craftsmanship.
Gerrit de Morée (1909 – 1981) was an artist from Breda and founder of the “Free School of Visual Arts”, now St. Joost Art Academy, and of the Bredasche Kunstkring. Much of his art was in the spotlight during this Open Monument Day. Gerrit de Morée made a lot of monumental work such as mosaics, brick reliefs, wall paintings, scraffitos and stained glass windows. These works of art were on display in Electron and Tessenderlandt.
To connect Gerrit de Morrée to de Teruggave, United Colors Breda organised artists from all over the city to show their art – thereby continuing on the important steps De Morrée took to connect art in Breda.
