Shershah

Eighteen years ago Shershah moved with his family from Afghanistan to the Netherlands. Now he is 28, married and a father of three children. He also started the barbershop Aria together with his brothers in the centre of Breda. Because of his parents and his faith, he still celebrates celebrations from Afghanistan. One of those is Nowruz.

This is celebrated on or around March 21. It is a Persian New Year and Spring Festival. You celebrate it with family and with good food. Shershah also does this with his parents and family.

A mix of dried fruit and various nuts are made especially for this holiday. All this is prepared on the day itself. Shershah tells how his mother buys, cooks and prepares here. It is a very sweet dish and is eaten with them only on this special day.
